480 Case Studies
Case Studies:
Case studies are meant to give us focus and reasoning for how to
manage our software projects and describe the sorts of things to be
cognizant about when designing and developing technological solutions.
You will be submitting 5 case studies - each of which is roughly 1
page long (~500 words). This is a portion of your grade, so be sure to
put some time and research into these studies (although I'm not asking
for a research paper).
For each case study provide the following:
- A brief description of the project
- What decisions affected the results of the project?
- What is most surprising about the case?
- What would you have done differently as the client?
- What would you have done differently as the developer?
- Site your references/sources of information - (beyond wiki although using wiki to start is okay)
For your first couple of case studies, you may grab from the links below. For future case studies, go out and find some software project failures and discuss them. Be sure to site your sources. Here are some sample web pages that have links to some Case Studies:
Other resources:
- Software Failure Reasons
- Lessons Learned - Some sample case studies from someone else - you might be able to use this with more research but don't just replicate what is listed here. Use this page to help you become accustomed to how someone else might put some case study material together.
